I bring you greetings from my entire Executive Committee that have continued to support the activities of golf governance and administration across the country.
As you are all aware, its about this time of the year that we breathe, talk and think about how things will roll out in the four weeks of the Golfing Festival in Uganda simply known as the Uganda Open.
Friends, the golfing fraternity are asking questions like; are you ready for the Open? Have you registered for the Open? What are your chances of finishing in Top 30? Am confident that the range is busy with players rectifying their swings and some even trying out new equipment, and others working hard to cut their handicaps in order to qualify and be able to participate in the Open.
Every year presents a unique experience and this year; The JW Uganda Open Championship proudly sponsored by EABL will be at the iconic Uganda Golf Club to among other things showcase experientials in the golf entertainment right at the heart of our capital – Kampala.
Therefore, ladies and gentlemen don’t only prepare your swings for the event but also this year we have lots of fun and planned activities even for those who will not be registered for the main events as well as a gallery for future golfers at the Entertainment Village. The Village will be stocked with different varieties of EABL’s Johnnie Walker brands at concessional pricing, lots of entertainment and many more exciting stuff throughout the Open.
For those taking part in the competition, the course has been prepared for golfers with the greens planted with Paspalum and the undulating fairways will be waiting for Pars and Birdies, all having been set in time with the oversight supervision and planning of a dedicated and experienced technical committee comprising of Uganda Golf Club, Mancom staff and Uganda Golf Union technical staff who have enabled ideas to come to life and will without a doubt run smoothly during this year’s Open.
The Open as usual will provide an opportunity to all categories of golfers i.e Juniors, Ladies, Seniors and Amateurs each showcasing their talent and skills at Championship levels and will colorfully conclude with Professionals from across the world thus speaking to one of the Union’s strategic objectives of development.
I would like to give a big thank you to the Uganda Golf Union, Uganda Golf Club, Mancom, golfers, other dedicated sponsors, our partners in the media and service providers. Lastly but not least, I would like to give a hearty thank you to EABL for the continuous support to this great sport of golf.
I believe, the 2023 JW Uganda Open Championship will be one of the best with insurmountable fun and experience for all the different categories. My best wishes to you all and may the best men and women win.
